Establishing new biotechnologies for advanced therapeutics
The pharmaceutical landscape is changing rapidly with the emergence of new drug modalities such as antibody drug conjugates, peptides and RNA therapeutics. The continual drive to develop drugs with increased efficacy and improved safety has also seen the development of small molecule drugs of increasing complexity. As such we must transform the way in which these medicines are discovered, produced and delivered.
Our researchers
Discover the research staff that specialise in medicine and health at MIB.
We are developing biocatalytic approaches and expression platforms to manufacture advanced therapeutics, solutions for effective delivery of biologics, and novel biomedical materials, that will ensure the widest possible access to these important new classes of therapeutics.
Some recent examples of our research in this area include:
- Enzymatic routes to new therapeutic modalities
- Discovery and biosynthesis of antimicrobials and natural products
- Polymer materials for cryogenic storage and distribution of biologics
- Novel bio-gels and biomedical scaffolds
