Creating a vibrant and inclusive culture for cross-disciplinary research and innovation

Creating a vibrant and inclusive environment is a key driver of innovation that enables creative problem solving and out of the box thinking.

At the MIB, we strive to foster and maintain an environment that is diverse and inclusive, and that promotes expanded participation and engagement. We are committed to delivering a community of best practice and positive action to ensure inclusivity at all levels. We have an active MIB EDI committee who organise regular events to raise awareness and celebrate diversity throughout the institute.

Social responsibility is one of the University’s three core strategic goals and the MIB community is committed to making a positive difference to both society and the environment. We regularly engage with diverse communities through a range of outreach activities to increase public awareness of our research and encourage wider participation from underrepresented groups in STEM subjects. We are also committed to increasing environmental sustainability and are working towards the Laboratory Efficiency and Assessment Framework (LEAF) accreditation for all MIB laboratories.
